Bhairav

Bhairav is the thaat-defining raga of its parent scale and one of the archetypal morning ragas, traditionally performed at sunrise. It uses komal Re and komal Dha alongside otherwise shuddha notes, a combination that gives it a solemn, devotional character often associated with temple music. Both flat notes are typically treated with a slow, deliberate meend (glide) rather than struck plainly, though that nuance is a performance technique this notation can't capture on its own. As with any raga, finer phrasing conventions vary by gharana.
